week of January 7, 2008

Hope everyone enjoyed the break. It's back to the classroom!

LA/READING:
We will be returning to the Gold packets for spelling and paragraph writing. There will be a quiz on Friday on YOUR set of words. Be prepared! Expect homework on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.
In Reading, we will have short stories and discussion in groups on Tuesdays. On Thursdays, we will begin individual novel reading and written response journaling. Expect homework over the weekend!

MATH:
We will pick up on the geometry unit including angles and measurement. A review of lattice will also occur. Expect homework on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

SOCIAL STUDIES:
For the next few weeks we will be studying the Expansion of America. This will include exploration of the west and the beginning rumblings of slavery and the Civil War. Expect homework from the book on Wednesday and Thursday.

SCIENCE:
We will be continuing our Astronomy unit starting with Chapter 2, the Solar System. Expect homework on Wednesday and Thursday. At the end of this unit, there will be a project. Start thinking about the planets and the Solar System.

Welcome...

Welcome to Ms. Brazen's blog page. Here is the syllabus for the week of December 18, 2007:

LA/READING:
We will be studying the novel,"The Hundred Dresses" and comparing it to the novel, "The Outsiders" for this week. We will be doing this all in class. No homework assigned.

SOCIAL STUDIES:
We are continuing creating our own countries. You will need to present your country on Thursday or Friday. We will work in the class for this assignment.

MATH:
We are continuing geometry. Expect homework on Monday and Thursday nights.

SCIENCE:
All week, we will be reviewing Chapter 1 in the Astronomy book. Be prepared for a test on Friday over this chapter.
