Week of February 25, 2008

Reminders:
* ISAT testing starts the week of March 4
* We are off school on Monday March 3, 2008
* Practice the writing skills you are working on this week

LANGUAGE ARTS: Gold packets handed out with your differentiated list of words. The packet is due on Wednesday. Please study your list and be prepared to place your set of words into a story or sentences as your goal states.

READING: Your book report is due on Thursday, February 28. Your book is at your challenger reading level. Please do your very best!

SOCIAL STUDIES: The Alamo this week...stay tune for details in class!

SCIENCE: We will be reviewing the solar system and lunar stages.

MATH: We are reading graphs and reviewing proportions. To move forward, a 90% or better is a MUST!

Week of Febraury 18-22, 2008

*Remember No school on Monday, February 18 for President's Day!
*Assembly scheduled for Wednesday, 2/20/08 after lunch until 1:20 regarding Black History Month.

LANGUAGE ARTS: Gold Packets will go out on Tuesday and they will be due on Wednesday! Everyone has a list of their spelling words so keep it safe! I will expect each student to write a story with their words on Friday. Some of you have 10 words, others have 20 words. Each list is dependent on your ability. Homework on Tuesday and Thursday nights. Study your list every night for the quiz on Friday!

READING: Your ability level book report is due on Thursday. Looking at your rubrics will insure you a 90% or better and a homework pass. You know what is expected at your level. Nightly homework includes reading and finishing the report. Do your best!

MATH: Review of algebra, geometry terms and problem solving skills. You may move on but you must score 90% or better in each section! One extended response will be homework on Wednesday.

SOCIAL STUDIES: We are continuing the westward expansion of North America. Expect homework on Tuesday and Thursday. A group activity is planned for Friday.

SCIENCE: Beginning a new chapter: The Universe. Terms to Learn will be due on Wednesday. Homework questions will be due on Thursday. Expect two extended responses in class.

WEEK of February 11, 2008

LANGUAGE ARTS: Gold packets are going out on Monday, due on Wednesday. Be sure you do your list of words. Everyone has their own set of words. You will be required to know your differentiated set by Friday. There will be a quiz. You will be required to place your words into solid paragraphs or sentences depending on your goal for the week.

READING: We are continuing our independent novel and reports. Everyone has a book that is at their ability level. Your book report is due on Thursday 2/14/08. If you have a 90% or better, you will re-write it into paragraph form prior to getting a homework pass. Remember all passes must be signed by your parent and attached to the homework. Passes are not allowed on either book reports or math assignments.

MATH: We will be reviewing geometry formulas and finding the perimeters, areas, and other formulas. When we are working in class, if you know what to do, go ahead. Your final score must be 90% or better to move further. Each of you have a math goal.... keep that goal in mind!

SOCIAL STUDIES: Westward Expansion, election news and geography skills. Expect homework on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

SCIENCE: PROJECTS! PROJECTS! PROJECTS! You must bring in your materials to work on on your Astronomy project. This will be an in class assignment. I have different expectations for each of you. Remember, your goal is to do your best! The final project is due on Friday, 2/15/08. Homework will included worksheets on a nightly basis on different planets.

*If you have CORE Science: Gravity project is due on Wednesday, 2/13/08
*If you have CORE Language Arts: The Giver project is due on Friday 2/15/08
*If you have CORE Social Studies: Activity 9 is due Friday 2/15/08
*Student Council is selling carnations for $1.00 each. They will be delivered on Thursday!
*Bring home your gym uniform and wash it! Thursday mornings 8:15 Extra credit available at the fitness center.
