Week of April 5-9, 2010

*Welcome back! I hope you had a wonderful spring break.
*Do your best to get the best grades!

SCIENCE: Continuing our paperless unit. We will be using the writers for note taking skills on Monday and Thursday. On Tuesday and Friday we will be using the writers to answer certain questions from out readings. Wednesday will be a homework but writers DO NOT leave the classroom!

MATH: Continue our routine: Math Minute at the beginning of class. Move to Buckle Down for a unit on MEASUREMENT. Homework each night on word problems and life skills that will apply to your every day activities.

LA: Definitions of story elements onto index cards and the TARGET words on index cards as well.


READING: Starting a new unit in READ 180: Unit 6. Also, a new novel will be selected on Monday with the report due on April 21: NEAT AND CLEAN. Logs are due on Friday with a signature.

SOCIAL STUDIES: Definitions for the CIVIL WAR. Read and notes on Tuesday. Geography on Wednesday. Q&A on Thursday. Friday Review!

REMINDERS: This is our last week before Spring Break.
Book Review is due Wednesday, 3/24/2010. It must be a final, CLEAN copy!

SCIENCE: Continuing our 'paperless' unit. We will be using the Writers to answer the following assignments:
Monday: p. 30 Think about It
Tuesday: P. 31 discussion after silent read, complete page 32 for homework
Wednesday: In class: Observing the sky and the Big Dipper
Thursday: Stellar Humor. Homework: What tools?
Friday: In class assignment

MATH: We are still on a Health rotation so Math classes are split. Homework includes the following:
Monday: Life Skills 25-26
Tuesday: Life Skills 27-28
Wednesday: QUIZ!!!!
Thursday: Graphing, due on Friday
Friday: Million Dollar project in the Media Center

READING: Log due on friday. Remember: You must have a signature for each entry!
Review due on Wednesday: CLEAN AND CRISP!

LA: Working on your persuasive essay. A final CLEAN copy is due on Thursday.
Quiz on Workshop 5 on Friday.

SOCIAL STUDIES: Test on Chapter 8 is on Tuesday. Only review sheets will be allowed. We will be working in Geography Books on Thursday and Friday.

SCIENCE: Continue Astronomy: STARS and CONSTELLATIONS. We will continue using Writers and try to go paperless for most of this unit! Expect homework on Thursday.

MATH: Continue Buckle Down: Geometry and congruent figures. Expect homework nightly on a life skills problem sheet.

READING: Classic novel review due MARCH 24. In class, continue Read 180. Log due on Friday.

LANGUAGE ARTS: Monday: Journal and p. 122 in R books.
Tuesday: DOL and p. 122 in R books.
Wednesday: Word Wall review and p. 123.
Thursday: DOL and p. 124 only in R books.
Friday: Journal and p. 125 in R books.

SOCIAL STUDIES: Review C. 8 all week. Extended essays on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Science:Astronomy: We will try doing paperless notes and use the Writers. Expect homework on Tuesday and Thursday.

Math: Every night is homework on a life skills math problem. At school, continue angles in the Buckle Down books.

LA: Journal on Monday, Friday and R book p.120.
DOL on Tuesday/ Thursday and review homophones and compound words.
Word Wall and review on Wednesday

Reading: Book review on Classic novel due March 24. In class, Read 180.

Social Studies: Return to Chapter 8 with notes and questions for sections 2 and 3.
